Giveon provides R&B lovers a chance to connect with the genre that’s nostalgic and fresh. In the three years this musician has been in the music industry, he has crafted a niche of followers. Giveon weaves the deep tones of his voice with new melodies. Giveon Dezmann Evans was born on February 21, 1995.Growing up in Long Beach, California with two other brothers, Giveon fell in love with music at an early age. Honing in on his craft, the youngster would write stories then convert them into songs. When he was 18-years-old, Giveon enrolled in a music education program at the Grammy Museum.
In August 2018, Giveon released “Garden Kisses.” In November 2019, his second single, “Like I Want You” picked up more traction and Giveon scored as the opening act for artist Snoh Aalegra throughout her headline tour. Giveon was featured on Drake’s “Chicago Freestyle” in February 2020. The track created a huge upsurge in the interest of Giveon. Reaching as high as number 14 on Billboard’s Hot 100 Chart, “Chicago Freestyle” became the platform song that pushed Giveon to greater exposure.
Giveon released his EP Take Time on March 27, 2020. With eight tracks and two lead singles on the EP, the project was successful in scoring placement on the US Billboard charts. Tracks on the EP reflect on romantic relationships that the artist has experienced. From fresh love in “WORLD WE CREATED” to the fed up undertones of “THIS AIN’T LOVE”, Take Time introduces listeners to Giveon’s style and insight into love. When It’s All Said and Done became the second EP released from Giveon. The EP was released on October 2, 2020, through Epic Records. The four tracks on the project reach over eleven minutes long but tell rich stories of heartbreak. “Still Your Best” follows the story of someone that pretends that they are over an ex-partner. The song “Last Time” featuring Snoh Aalegra is an intimate conversation between old lovers. The EP also made it onto Billboard’s 200 and R&B music charts.
In March 2021, Giveon was featured on Justin Bieber’s “Peaches” along with Daniel Caesar. Most recently the artist released a compilation album, When It’s All Said and Done…. Take Time on March 12th. Within the 13 tracks, listeners fall into various stories told by the smooth baritone vocals. “All To Me” is a new song on the album that swoons listeners across the globe. A short listen to Giveon and you’ll find the distinct sound of this baritone voice. His style blends new and old R&B sounds. The emotions and vulnerability in Giveon’s music create avenues for listeners to connect with him in.
