Becky Hill: UK’s Popstar Powerhouse

Rebecca Claire Hill was born on February 14, 1994, in the small town of Dudley, England. She started making music when she was 14-years-old. Becky joined a band called Shaking Trees and they were noticed by BBC Music Introducing as a band to “watch out for.” Rebecca gained fame after she appeared on the first series of the television show The Voice UK. She made it onto Jessie J’s team and reached the semi-finals of the competition. The show propelled Becky to the musical spotlight and gave her the confidence to continue with music.

2013 saw a flurry of activity from the young artist. Becky released several covers of popular songs that generated a lot of fans and attention from listeners. Some of the covers included: David Guetta’s “She Wolf”, Paolo Nutini’s “Last Request”, and Rudimental’s “Not Giving In.” She also co-wrote and recorded vocals for Wilkinson’s “Afterglow.” The song made several UK charts and an increasing amount of streams for the artist. In 2014, Oliver Heldens’ “Gecko (Overdrive)” peaked at No.1 on the UK Singles Chart. On November 9, 2014, Becky released “Losing.” Later that month, she was featured on Reigan Derry’s “All of the Pieces.” In July of the following year, Watermät and Becky released the song “All My Love.”

In May 2016, Becky released “Back to My Love” with an appearance from Little Simz. Over the next couple of months, Becky collaborated with several artists and gained even more exposure. She was featured on producer MK’s, “Piece of Me” and Matoma’s “False Alarm.” Becky Hill then released her second single “Warm.” Her next single, “Rude Love” was released in March 2017. Later that year, Becky signed to Sony Record Label/ATV. August 2017 saw the release of the single “Unpredictable.” All four of her previously released singles were promotion for the Eko EP, which was released that same year. She also announced that she signed another deal with Polydor Records.

The single, “Sunrise in the East” was released in June 2018. Shortly afterward, Becky Hill had several more collaborations with artists like MK, Weiss, and Sigala. These tracks became wildly popular on streaming services and as a result, culminated millions of streams. Becky also gained attention for her songwriting credits on the track “All Day and Night” by Jax Jones.

On September 27, 2019, Becky Hill released her debut album, Get to Know. The 14-track album has a combination of singles that did well and new material for fans. From a story perspective, Get to Know explores experiences based on love. While the genre of the album is mostly geared towards pop, there are house music and EDM influences as well. Get to Know has a broad range of music that showcases Becky’s voice and personality.

Becky Hill has created a name for herself since initially getting her foot in the door of the music industry years ago. With a strong fan base in the UK and several wildly successful tracks, Becky is gearing to leave her mark in music. Whether she’s writing purposeful lyrics, showcasing vocal prowess, or collaborating on multiple music projects, Becky Hill is shaping herself to be the ultimate powerhouse vocalist in pop.
