As the year is close to reaching its middle point, it’s time to discuss some of the best music videos of 2023. From haunting edits to vivid colors and compelling storylines, here are my top 10 best music videos of the year so far.

10. “Alone” – Kim Petras feat. Nicki Minaj

This colorful and fun video has great choreography and features Nicki working the camera effortlessly. Kim’s addition is the cherry on top, making this video among the best of the year.

9. “Put It On Da Floor Again” – Latto feat. Cardi B

This music video is all about having fun. Cardi and Latto’s playful energy throughout the video is infectious, and the video feels like filming the rappers just having a great time.

8. “Haegeum” – Agust D

The storyline in this video is perfect, and the cinematography is unbelievable. The visuals accompany the song perfectly with its hauntingly beautiful rhythm and stunning visuals.

7. “Like Crazy” – Jimin

The editing in this video is outstanding, with expertly choreographed dance moves and beautiful scenery. Jimin’s emotions are evident in every movement, making it a truly captivating watch.

6. “Escapism.” – RAYE feat. 070 Shake

This video is all about fun and having a good time. It has a girls’ night out feel throughout and its interesting visuals make for an incredibly entertaining watch.

5. “Boys A Liar Pt. 2” – PinkPantheress & Ice Spice

This fun and vibrant music video will transport you back in time. It has an old 2000s feel that’s blended perfectly with modern visuals. PinkPantheress & Ice Spice give off this carefree go-with-the-flow vibe and the verse from Ice Spice might be her best yet.

4. “Anti Hero” – Taylor Swift

This video was directed by Taylor herself and masterfully executed. It illustrates the meaning of the song exceptionally well with stunning visuals that are impactful and emotional, I still however wish she did not take the weight/scale scene out the video since it was personal to her and should’ve stayed to show her own struggles.

3. “ICU” – Coco Jones

This video stands out with its amazing storyline, beautiful coloring, and Coco’s strong, compelling, and engaging voice. Coco is an actress, and it truly shows in the video, the range of emotions shown and her ability to portray herself as something different is brilliant. The cinematography and visuals also add an extra layer of emotion to an already moving song.

2. “Calm Down” – REMA & Selena Gomez

This video is colorful, lighthearted, and incredibly pleasing to watch. It’s a feel-good vibe that radiates throughout the screen. Selena looks beautiful and REMA matches her chill energy well, amazing song as well.

1. “VOID” – Melanie Martinez

This music video is beautifully edited, haunting, and surreal. The visual effects perfectly complement the eerie tone of the song, Melanie’s character is so interesting and the continuation between her videos is such a beautiful addition to an already great visual.

In conclusion, these videos, each, in their unique ways, have captured the essence of the songs they represent and elevated them to greater heights. 2023 has truly been a great year for music videos!
